Jeff was born in Mount Carmel, PA in 1944. He was the child of the late Dorothy Leonard (Jeffrey) and Gerald Leonard.

After moving with his parents to Upper Darby in his early teens, he and his young friends formed the Doo Wop group "Little Joey and the Flips". The Flips toured with the likes of "Sam Cooke" ,"The Isley Brothers", "The Orlons", "Dee Sharp" and many more Doo Wop pioneers. Joey and The Flips popularity peaked when they appeared on American Bandstand in 63'.

Following the Doo Wop era, Jeff Leonard restructured the group. As musical director and drummer for his new group he landed the a dream gig as the house band for the Channel 10 Hit T.V. Show : "Jerry Blavat's Discophonic Scene"

He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served our country in combat in Vietnam from 1967-1969 and was Honorably Discharged. More than 40 years after his service he was recognized and validated by the V.A. as a Disabled Veteran.

Jeff loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. After working for a time as an electrician he later realized his dream opening "Leonard's Sporting Goods" in 1982. Leonard's was a family operated business, located in Upper Darby, PA, for 30 years. Leonard recently retired in 2013 while aiding his son in operating "Face The Music Studios" in Upper Darby, PA.

He was the loving and caring father of Jeffrey G. Leonard Jr. (Trina) and Crissy Degirolamo (Carmen). Jeffrey was a proud grandfather to Andrew, Olivia and Jeffrey G. Leonard III, Tyler and Cameron Degirolamo and brother to Carol Lubeski. Leonard is also survived by his former wife of 21 years, Maria Spagnuolo (Damiani).
